Phenix City, AL- Glennie Ruth King, 86, of Phenix City, AL., passed away on March 21, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
Graveside services for Mrs. King will be held at 10:00am, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Reverend Ray Cummings officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby 3770 Hwy. 431 N. Phenix City.
Visitation for Mrs. King will be from 5-7pm, on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the funeral home.
Mrs. King was born March 13, 1928 in Opp, Alabama to the late James D. Bowers and Vannie Ruth Bowers. In addition to her parents Mrs. King was preceded in death by her first husband, James Robert Shine, Sr., and her second husband, Eugene King. She was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her son; James Robert Shine, Jr., three daughters; Pat (Ben) Shine Greene, Jeanette (Scott) Burdett, and Kathy (Larry) Devlin, two sisters; Margie Casey, and Betty (Larry) Crow, one brother; Royce (Mary) Bowers, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Alabama, in memory of Glennie Ruth King.
