William McCann Obituary
January 14, 1938 - February 5, 2025
William J. McCann, 87, of Linwood, N.J. formerly of Ocean City, N.J. passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Frederick and Florence (nee Clay) McCann. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy serving from 1955 until his Honorable Discharge in 1959.
Bill was a Warehouse worker for Sears, Roebuck in Philadelphia, Pa. for many years. After retirement he drove a school bus for Cheltenham Township Schools and worked at the Downingtown Country Club building maintenance department. When moving to Ocean City he worked in maintenance at Ocean City Community Center and volunteered many hours for the Ocean City clothes closet.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ann McCann (nee Braknis); his son, William J. McCann, Jr.; brother and sisters, Frederick McCann, Patricia Stappen, Jane Boomershein, Carol Price, Molly Geist and Nancy Berkowitz.
Surviving are his daughter, Laura, and her husband Kevin Redmond, of Linwood, N.J.; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Kristina, Andrew; and brothers, Donald (Carol) McCann and Charles McCann.
His Funeral Service will be offered Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, N.J. where his viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery.
The Family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at Stjude.org.
