Ramone McBride Obituary

Ramone Travis Osborne McBride, 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home in Dayton, Idaho. Known lovingly as Travis, he was a man of deep faith, family, and perseverance. Born on March 5, 1960, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Leah Ann James and James Osborne, Travis was later adopted by Grant and Elouise McBride, further enriching his sense of belonging. He spent his childhood in the Thomas area, attending schools in Pingree and Rockford, and graduated from Snake River High School in 1979. While in high school, he developed a lifelong love for wrestling.

Travis continued his education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, before transferring to Utah State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Management. After college, he joined the Air Force and served as military police, stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT, with a significant portion of his service spent in Turkey.

On June 4, 1983, Travis married Debby Leeflang in Great Falls, MT, and they were blessed with a son, Brandon McBride. Though their marriage ended in 2000, Travis always held a deep love for his family.

After his military service, Travis worked as a fencing contractor for over 20 years, taking pride in his work and craftsmanship. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning, and playing card games with friends. In recent years, he found joy playing pickleball with his neighbors.

A man of strong faith, Travis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the Camden, New Jersey area, a time that deeply impacted him. His quiet strength and faith sustained him through life's challenges, including his health battles. Diagnosed with diabetes in 2020, Travis faced health difficulties with courage and a sense of humor, always asking for his favorite sugar-free peanut butter cups.

Travis is survived by his son, Brandon (Lexi) McBride, and his grandchildren, Beckham, Dax, and Millie McBride, all of Salt Lake City, UT. He is also survived by his sister Kristine McBride of Thomas, ID; siblings Iralene Osborne and Douglas "Muncie" Osborne of Fort Hall, ID; Mabel Running Fisher, Ronnalea Grant, Katherine "Kitty" Skunkcap, and Ronald "Boy" Crossguns, all of Browning, MT; Tyler Crossguns of Taholah, WA; Gifford Osborne and Kimberly Osborne of Fort Hall, ID. He was the cherished brother of Iralene V. Osborne (Fort Hall), Mabel A. Running Fisher (James), Ronnalea Grant (Darren), Katherine "Kitty" Skunkcap, Ronald L. Crossguns (Mickey), and Tyler J. Crossguns (Bobbie). He is also survived by beloved step-sisters Helen Jones (Dalan), Henri Sharp, and Stephanie Capoeman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Elouise McBride; his birth parents, Leah and Ronald Crossguns; his sister Judith Leavitt; brothers Roger and Gregory McBride; step-siblings Ilene Colegrove and Stanley Capoeman; and his sister Freda Lynn Capoeman.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Dayton LDS Church, with Bishop Hyde officiating. The family will meet with friends at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery in Blackfoot, ID, at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home.
