Leon Fleischfresser Obituary

Leon Arthur Fleischfresser, age 66, peacefully went home to Jesus on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Park Manor in Park Falls. He was born on May 4, 1958, in Park Falls, the son of Robert and Yvonne (Westbrook) Fleischfresser. Leon was named after his two grandfathers, Leon Westbrook of Grantham, NC and Arthur Fleischfresser, Sr. of Butternut. His early life and schooling were in Butternut, St. Anthony, ID, and Roundup, MT. Leon graduated from WITC-Ashland with a degree in food service. He worked as a mill worker at Flambeau River Papers and retired after 37 years of service. He also worked as a logger with Owens Illinois and as a chef at The Platter and The Hillmor Supper Club in Ashland, WI. He was very active in his church and served in many different positions, most recently as President of the Church Council at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Butternut. He had a very kind and generous nature and, in addition to his gifts and donations to church and other organizations, in his lifetime, he donated 123 units of blood to the American Red Cross. He was a lifelong chef, gardener and fisherman and he enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting. He loved spending time with his family and friends, raised tropical fish for most of his life, and delighted in beating his family in Cribbage.

He is survived by his father, Robert Fleischfresser of Butternut, his (3) children Amanda (Tom) Alexander of Glidden, Fabian Fleischfresser of Butternut and Ryan Bochler of Park Falls, his (4) grandchildren, (1) great grandchild, his brother John (Nita) Fleischfresser of Tucson, AZ, his sister Gail Fleischfresser of Suffolk, VA, his brother David (Shannon) Fleischfresser of Butternut, his faithful and dear cousins Jolene (Larry) Powell and Marshall (Shirley) Venz of Butternut, his nephew Talon (Alison) Fleischfresser of Park Falls, his Aunt Alice Maxwell, Aunt Dorothy (Fred) Boness, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Fleischfresser and his grandson, Donald Raymond.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology Departments for all of their love, care and support during Leon's illness. They also wish to thank the staff at the American Red Cross-Eau Claire location.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Butternut on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. John A. Dietz will officiate

Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Butternut.

A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center,

3485 E Hamilton Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701 or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butternut.
