ALONZO ATKINS Obituary
Alonzo joined First Baptist Church, Jarratt, Va., at an early age and was a dedicated member and usher. He was employed at Davis Truck Plaza for 15 years. Alonzo was a handsome, loving family man, and will forever be missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his fiancé Donna Johnson; his children, Alajah Atkins, Tre Simms, Alonzo Atkins, Ashlene Devonta Davis, Robin Atkins, Darius Johnson, Shawn Simms (Kelina) and Tiffany Simms (Antonio); his parents, Major and Dorethea Atkins; two devoted sisters, Robin (Russell) Smith of Waverly, Va., and Bonita Atkins of Jarratt, Va.; godsister, Kinika Jones; aunts, Nellie Williams, Mary Bailey, Christine Massenburg and Georgia Atkins, all of Stony Creek, Va., Bernice Taylor, Petersburg, Va., Mable Parham and Virgie Epps, both of Jarratt, Va., Dorothy Rose of Prince George, Va., and Barbara Atkins of Richmond, Va.; two uncles, Carl Edward (Clara Jones) and Robert Thomas (Sarah Atkins); three grandchildren, Jaiden Atkins, Avonta Davis, Jamori Atkins; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; devoted friends, Roosevelt Griffin (Bo) and Michelle Simms. Classmates from the Class of 1985 will be pallbearers and flowerbearers.
Homegoing services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at First Baptist Church, 18463 Little Mill Road, Jarratt, Va., Rev. George Mayes, pastor. Interment will follow immediately at First Baptist Church Cemetery.

My prayers and thoughts are with Alonzo's family. Alonzo was a classmate who was so bubbly and fun to be around. He always had joy in his heart. Sadly, I was not able to attend his funeral due to being out of town. Alonzo will be truly missed. God Bless His Family and Friends.
