ARNITA JONES Obituary

Mrs. Arnita Taylor Jones of Petersburg, Virginia, transitioned on August 18, 2018, at River View on the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center located in Hopewell, Virginia.

She was born in Petersburg, Virginia, on August 10, 1932, to the late Clementine Edwards Taylor and Raymond Taylor. Mrs. Arnita T. Jones graduated from Peabody High School, Petersburg, Virginia, Class of 1949. She retired from Central State Hospital as a Charge Aide within the Geriatrics Unit after 26 and a half years of service. She is a lifelong member of Gillfield Baptist Church, Petersburg, Virginia, where she was a member of the Missionary Society, Sunday school and bible study classes. Mrs. Arnita was also a member of the Petersburg Chapter #33 OES (Order of Eastern Star).

Mrs. Arnita has long awaited the heavenly reunion of her husband of 62 years, Mr. Richard L. Jones; mother, Clementine "Tiny" Edwards Taylor-Edmonds; father; Raymond Taylor; stepfather, George Edmonds; sisters whom she missed dearly, Ernestine Taylor Walker (George) and Shirley Ann Taylor Williams Cook (Marvin); maternal aunt, Katie Edwards, who assisted with raising Arnita; paternal aunts, Isadore Taylor Stephens-Williams, Vernell Taylor Robinson (James Sr.) and Mary Taylor-Penn (Clarence, Sr.); paternal uncle, Tommy Taylor; mother-in-law, Elnora J. Banks; brother-in-law, Mack Jones (Maybelle); nephews, Mark Curtis Williams, Charles Wilson, Jr.; and cousins, Malinda Williams-Hall, Thelma Jones, Obedience Parham, Clarence Penn, Jr. and Sarah Spriggs. We can "Only Imagine" that reunion!

Left to celebrate Arnita's life and continue this earthly journey are: Angela Vanessa Jones, devoted daughter; Mary G. Wilson, devoted sister-in-law; nieces, two devoted Rasheedah Farid and Yita Gomez, also being a guardian, and Darlita Jones; great-nieces, Mecca Williams and Myra Walker; nephews, Raynard Walker (Betty), Craig Walker (Janet), Forrest Walker, Eric Walker (Dee) and Stanley Williams, Roteria Jones, Dino Jones and Omar Jones; great nephews, Miquel Lewis and Marantz Walker (Desiree), cousins, Judith Robinson, Glover Monroe and Vernell Gail Robinson-White (Bryant), Pamela Robinson Tate (Rev. Ellsworth), James (Jimmie) Robinson, Jr. (Rainna) and Michael Penn. We cannot forget all other relatives, special friends and neighbors that are too numerous to name.

Mrs. Arnita will be greatly missed. As we mourn, we also praise the Creator for the opportunity to witness her legacy as a daughter, sister, niece, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor, coworker, student and righteous servant. Farewell Arnita Taylor-Jones Until We Meet Again.
