Barbara J.G. Walker

Mrs. Barbara J. Walker, of Patterson Street, Petersburg, suddenly departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

Barbara was born March 3, 1954, in Petersburg, to the late Murel M. Jones Sr. and Doris Dugger Jones. Barbara attended Petersburg Public Schools and Woodrow Wilson Technical Center in Waynesboro. She was married to Joseph Walker. Barbara was a member of Edgehill Church of Christ in Dinwiddie. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael D. Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted daughter, Tiffany Nicole Hines (Antonio) of Petersburg; her sister, Mrs. Beverly McLaughlin (Wesley) of Petersburg; four brothers, Murel Jones (Rosemary) of Chesterfield and Melvin Jones (Debra), Morris Jones (Patsy) and Phillip Jones (Audrey), all of Prince George; her great-aunt, Madeline Jones Candy, for whom she served as a caregiver; her mother-in-law, Virginia Walker of Dinwiddie; several nieces and nephews, Constance, Jason, Nedra, Sherita, Alethia, Maria, Andrea, Matthew, Laura, Chris, Treniecia, Marcus, Markelle, Shandell, Adrienne, Sade, Philip, Robert, William and Jewell; and a host of devoted family, friends and acquaintances, including Hazel Bailey, Colleen Brooks, Wanda Corbett and Evelyn Hicks.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Bland Funeral Home during a Christian wake from 7 to 8 tonight. Her funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Edgehill Church of Christ, 25609 Grant Ave., Dinwiddie County. Dr. Russ Jurek will officiate during the funeral services. Interment will be at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The immediate family will assemble at 1 p.m. at 912 Patterson St., Petersburg, for the procession to the church.
