Belinda Butcher Obituary

On Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one, Belinda Renee Gordon Butcher.

A native of Petersburg, she was a member of the Class of 1980. She was also a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Petersburg. Her passions were shopping, making people laugh and singing. Belinda was well known for her voice in the Tri-City area. She was an accomplished singer and singing was the joy of her being. Belinda was voted most talented in 1977 and 1980. She also sang with Shirley Caesar, and was a member of The Peabody Follies and the Playmakers of Petersburg. Ms. Butcher was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Gordon, and her daughter, Makeishia Renee Butcher.

She leaves to cherish her fond and precious memories: her children, Raheem Butcher (Kameshia), Demetria "Dee Dee" Butcher (Wayne) and Anthony 'Hank" Butcher; her devoted mother; Dottie Butcher-Gordon; her stepfather, Randall Buford (Teresa); her grandchildren, who were most precious to her, D'Ziyah, Raheem, Jonese, Ke'Arriah, Aniyah and Jaekwon; her significant other, Vincent Thomas; five aunts, Mrs. Clarine Ruffin, Betty and Joyce Mason, Genora Lawrence and Mae Linda Johnson; two uncles, James Mason and Percy Butcher; devoted family and friends, Sheila Ruffin-Moody, Kim Saunders, Joe Joe Graves, Sylvia Thorne, Rita Bonner, Bridget Smith, Lolita Spearman, Sharon Ware, Denise Jackson and Alician Bland; father of her children, Calvin Dugger and Anthony "Wayne" Hines; other relatives and friends. Belinda will be missed forever and cherished as much.

A funeral service will be held noon Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., pastor of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Petersburg. The interment will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The immediate family will assemble at the residence, 509 Pecan St., Apt. B. (Pecan Acres).

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. Please visit us at our Web site, www.blandenterprisesinc.com.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To the children:
Know that GOD Makes No Mistakes HE is a Good GOD and a Just GOD and HE knew your Mom had taken all the pain she could take and now she is Gone home to be with HIM. But she will always be with you in spirit.
Rahbu, remember she will be there on your shoulder when you sing any song ,she will be guiding you thru every tune.

Dottie, my sister and Friend, I feel your pain it is not easy to loose your baby, just seems it ain't suppose to be that way. But we know when "she said to you" I am going home to be with the "LORD", that was your clue to prepare and Know that she was ready. Some of us are not ready when it's time to go,but she is now walking those streets of GOLD, where there is no more sorrow or pain.
(I didn't get the chance to hear my child say he was ready but I felt it months before and didn't know why).

We will miss that beautiful voice of LindaLu's and not to mention the hair that not one strand was ever out of place and that smiling face. We will continue to have the beautiful memories and we all must go on as the former families of Pin Oaks/The Heights and continue to support each other.
LindaLu, you left wonderful memories for us, your legacy will linger forever in our minds. YOU were "OUR CELEBRITY". So go on baby girl "Take Your Rest we Loved YOU Dearly but GOD LOVED YOU BEST.

Lovingly and Sadly Missed,
Your Pin Oaks/Heights Family
