BENJAMIN EDWARDS Obituary

Mr. Benjamin M. "Chico" Edwards of 2333 Fort Lee Road, Petersburg, VA, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, VA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin G. Edwards; grandparents, Robert and Alma Wyatt and George and Eva Edwards; step-grandmother, Sadie E. Walker; stepfather, Maryland Prosise; four aunts and three uncles.
Chico was an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Dewitt, VA, where he was baptized at an early age. He attended Dinwiddie Public Schools. He was a retired employee of Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC), however, at the time of death, he was employed by Browder's Towing. He was a very loving family man that enjoyed life and was always willing to help anyone. He was an avid sports fan; and if the New York Giants or Atlanta Braves were playing, he was sure to be watching and rooting them on.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Vivian W. E. Prosise; one son, Dwayne Roberts; one brother, Roderick "Hoagie" Edwards (Bessie); devoted cousins whom were like siblings, Anthony "Snudgie" Wyatt (Tina), Angela Wyatt and daughter, Rickela "Keekee" Crittendon; four step-sisters, Nadine Bolling (Larry), Melanie Walker, Charlene Johnson (Calvin), and Cassandra Harris (Lee); seven aunts, Doletha Bonner (James), Gertrude Morgan, Narvenia Jones, Dorothy B. Wyatt, Gloria J. Wyatt, Ida R. Wyatt and Flossie W. Wyatt; two uncles, Talmage "Billy" Wyatt and Courtney Faulcon; several devoted friends, Rozia Davis, Browder's Towing and Services, and James Nowlin. He also leaves nieces and a host of nephews, cousins and friends.
A special thanks to the staff at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Massey Cancer Center and Encompass Home Health Services.
Services for Mr. Benjamin M. "Chico" Edwards will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 16616 Glebe Road, Dewitt, Va., the Rev. Gerald Brandon, pastor, eulogist. Interment to follow at the Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

It will be the little things
that you will remember,
the quiet moments,
the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem
hard right now,
it will be the memories
of these little things
that help to push
away the pain
and bring the smiles
back again.

So hard to believe I'm typing the words, Rest In Peace with the name Chico following it. I know you're in a better place dear cousin and I'm at perfect peace in knowing that as well. It is a heartfelt goodbye I say to you but I know we will see each other again. Thanks for not only trusting me & Kee to be there for you in your time of need, but I say to you also Thank you for the times you were there for us, because as I laid sick 15 yrs ago I had you there to say, Baby girl you're gonna be ok, then 5 yrs ago when daddy & I needed you, all I had to do was call and say Hey Chico and never did I hear, I'll see, I heard, ok cuz, I'll get Unc there don't worry so it was my pleasure to say ok Chico I'm on my way & yeah I got you because it was always in love.
Yes, I'll miss the late night early morning calls, the laughs we shared because I can honestly say we shared no tears of sorrow with all the situations that came and went, we knew it was all God's plan so still today I have no sorrow, I saw you growing tired and I asked God as you told me," I'm ready", to Grant you your Wings, You'd Fought A Good & Faithful fight, and as you told me, your work here had been done.
So Chico I don't have to Say Save a Seat for Me because anybody that knew you knew for sure Chico will be that friend watching out for and waiting for them so until I get to heaven enjoy Big Ben. Love ya Bitty & Kee
