Cheryl Hardy Obituary

Cheryl Denise Hardy
Sutherland, VA - Cheryl Denise Hardy, 54, of Sutherland, Virginia gained her wings on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at VCU Medical Center. She was employed many years as an Ultrasonographer until her health declined.
Cheryl was baptized at an early age and was currently a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia, where she proudly served.
She was Happily married to her soulmate Mack Hardy for 33 years and they had one son, Montero Hardy, that she loved with her entire heart. They were her everything and some. She intentionally made sure that they had what they needed— even down to her last moments. Cheryl would often brag about her Smooshie Wooshie (Montero) to whomever would listen.
Cheryl was an avid traveler. She had overwhelming great joy in traveling up and down the east coast with her husband in their RV. In addition to her traveling in the RV — she loved taking multiple family vacations several times a year all over the world. If there was a such thing as a professional shopper, that was Cheryl. She could find what you wanted, what you thought you didn't need, and what you thought you couldn't live without.
Every year at the beginning of spring , it didn't matter what was going on — she was fully dedicated to getting her pool ready. She would take late night dips in the pool just to relax and was always ready no matter the time of day or night, for her nieces and nephews and their kids to come over to swim with her. Even though her son had already graduated from college, Cheryl continued to go school shopping for all the kids in and out of the neighborhood. If they needed supplies, even in the middle of the school year, you best believe Cheryl had it. It was a guarantee that she had what you needed and if she didn't — she'd call you while out shopping the next day after work to let you know she found it and then go on to ask if there was anything else you needed.
She was such a giving and humble person that she would give the clothes off her back. With her beautiful smile that was always present, even on her worst days, she would light up the entire room. Cheryl meant the world not just to her family, but other families and friends as well. She never met a stranger, and always reached out for a hug when she saw you. Even though her life was short, she was able to touch so many lives during that time.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Dorothy Beasley, Paternal Grandparents Deacon Leroyand Deaconess Corine Beasley, and Maternal Grandparents James and Edith Raines.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her soulmate and devoted husband of 33 years Mack Hardy and only child, her pride and joy Montero Hardy of Columbia, Maryland. She is also survived by one brother, Corey (Jeania) of Dinwiddie County, and one sister Rev. Christal (Rev. Carlos) of North Dinwiddie, Virginia. She was well loved by a host of nieces and nephews, too numerous to name. Cheryl leaves behind five uncles James Beasley (Linda), Joseph Beasley, Sr (Dorothy), Rossy Beasley, Sr (Willianna), Oliver Raines (Deborah), and James Raines (Tanya), and seven aunts, Mary Wynn (Broadus), Janette Jones, Sarah Tucker (Thomas), Eva Parham (Stanley), Faye Pride (Winfred), Edith Walker (Alvin), and Wilhelmina Coleman (Frank). Mother and Father-in-laws, DeaconBenjamin and Evangelist Barbara Hardy and Theodore and Merilla Perry. She is also survived by many Brother and Sister-in-laws, a host of other family members, and friends, among them a devoted friend of over 30 years, Karen Short-Jones, and God-Daughters, Kierra and Demara Jones. She adopted many children along the way and during her illness when her biological son couldn't be there, Quinton Jones and Elijah Williams were a God send to the family.
A Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday August 11, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, with the pastor, Rev. Dr. Kevin M. Northam, eulogizing, and Rev. Brenda Cherry, officiating. Interment will follow at the Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
Public viewing will be held on Tuesday August 10, 2021 from 12 Noon to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Cheryl

Joyce Palmer

Bob and I have many fond memories of Cheryl. She came to Maryland the summer of 2019 to buy some household items for Montero's new home in Burtonsville. We spent the day shopping and then she had dinner with us at our home in Washington DC. We shared many funny stories and laughed quite a bit! We also spent fun times together at our Us Club motor home rallies and meeting at Thousand Trails RV Parks in Virginia. Her kind and loving spirit will be missed. We think the world of you Cheryl! May you be singing with the angels. Mack and Montero remain in our prayers. Bob and Joyce Palmer

Cheryl was so faithful and peaceful until the end. I never heard her complain about anything. Her strength was so impressive and I knew that she loved God and wasn't going to give in until he said so. Mack and Montero, God's hand will continue to cover you in the days, weeks, and years to come. Take everything day by day. God bless both of you for your love and strength that you all showed Cheryl during her illness. She was showered with love from you all, Crystal, Cory and other family members. I will continue praying for your strength and may God continue comforting you all.

Mac and Montero, words are not adequate enough to speak to the pain that is being endured by the loss of your beautiful wife, mother and friend. When you first made us aware of her health issues, the desire to be there and serve, brought great joy to my heart. To walk in her room time after time and see and feel the presence of God showering her with strength, peace and her declaration to live was beyond ones imagination. Cheryl was such a sweet and compassionate woman of God. She showed great strength and press as she was determined to fight both for herself and you guys. Thank you for sharing and pouring into our lives. We are here and know that Cheryl will be dearly missed. Love to you from us.
