DEKE BOLTE Obituary

Deke O. Bolte, 57, of Kill Devil Hills, and formerly of Dinwiddie County passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton B. Bolte. Deke was self-employed as a carpenter, and was the chairman of the board for the Dare County Airport Authority. He had a love for photography and anything adventurous. Deke was a very loving and caring person and will be missed by his family and friends. He was a light to all who met him. He brought joy to each life he touched.

Deke is survived by his wife, Patricia Kuhn; children, Donna Joy Estes and husband, Adam of Powhatan, Austin Smith and wife, Jenni of North Carolina, Bessie Smith of North Carolina; grandson, Mason Estes; mother, Joy Bolte of Dinwiddie; brother, Blandford Bolte and his wife, Kim of North Carolina; sister, Bobbi Jo Erb of Alaska; niece, Laura Joy Erb of Alaska; nephew, Grayson Bolte of North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with the Reverend John Hemming officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A second memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015, at Twiford Funeral Home, 500 Budleigh St., Manteo, NC 27954. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Deke to your favorite charity. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

I am so saddened to learn of Deke's death. I graduated in the class of 1976 from Dinwiddie County High School with Deke. Deke's mother, Joy was one of my high school teachers. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with Joy and all of Deke's family during this time of loss and grief.

Dearest Bolte family,
I am a former Dinwiddie teacher but knew Deke and your mom ~ I am so very sorry to hear of Deke's passing. I am sure you all are in a state of shock, but in the midst.... please know that you are being lifted up in prayer. May God give you peace in the middle of this storm.

I'm so sorry to hear of Deke's passing. I went to school with Deke and graduated from DCHS class of '77. I had his mother, Joy, for 12th grade English. My thoughts and prayers go to his mother, Blandford, Bobbie, and the whole family.
