Effie Ingram Obituary
She was born in Emporia, Va., to the late James and Annie Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Jett Ingram Sr. and Jet Ingram Jr.; four brothers, Andrew, John, Rieves and James Williams; and sister, Clara Williams.
She was educated at R.R. Moten Elementary, Emporia, Va., and Blandford Elementary, Petersburg, Va. She was employed for many years in various companies, Jolly Restaurant, Transit Truck Stop, Fort Lee, Central State Hospital, where she retired after 15 years of service because of declining health.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Martha Miles of New York, N.Y., Gloria Walker of Petersburg, Va., and Mamie Ingram of Petersburg, Va.; two sons, Jerome Ingram and Arthur Ingram of Petersburg, Va.; two sisters, Mary Briggs of Petersburg, Va., and Bertha White of Baltimore; eight grandchildren, Michelle Ingram, and E'Lon Ingram of Petersburg, Va., Pamela Ingram of Atlanta, Jermaine Ingram of Pontiac, Mich., Jerome Parson of Alabama, Steven Parson of New York, N.Y., Angel Ingram of Petersburg, and Andreaia Lovett of Philadelphia; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, Dikia Byrd; three devoted granddaughters, Michelle, Diane and Nikia Ingram; and a host of other relatives and friends, and a devoted caregiver, Kim McNair.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Petersburg, with Dr. Robert A. Diggs, pastor, officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. Merle Keene. Interment will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The remains will lie in state at the church on Monday from 11:45 a.m. until the hour of service. Relatives and friends will assemble at the residence, 641-A Cottonwood Drive, Petersburg, at noon. A memory video may be viewed at the funeral home.
