ELTON ROGERS Obituary

Elton Earl Rogers, 92, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018. Born in Arkansas, he was the son of the late Earl Rogers and Mabel Ray Rogers. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Rogers; brothers, Ray Rogers and James Rogers; and sister, Patricia Rogers.

Elton served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was a Nuclear Veteran. He retired from active duty in 1978. He went on to work in Civil Service as a Supply Systems Analyst at Fort Lee retiring after many years in 1992. Elton faithfully worshipped at Second Baptist Church in Petersburg. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Lynn Rogers; son, Jeffrey Rogers (Christopher Young) of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Susanne Rogers Osborne (Garnett) of Chester; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Osborne and Sterling Osborne of Chester; and brother, Gaylon Rogers of Leachville, Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Second Baptist Church. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
