Frances Phillips Obituary
She was a native of Dinwiddie County, and was the daughter of the late William W. Walker Sr. and Maude Pillow Walker. She was formerly a longtime member of High Street United Methodist Church and currently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of Violet Bank Garden Club, and life member of Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs. She was retired from the Circuit Court of Colonial Heights.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Baxter F. Phillips Jr. and Sharon Lee Phillips; one grandson, Baxter F. Phillips III and wife, Margaret Anne Phillips; a great-granddaughter, Anne Collier Phillips; a great-grandson, Baxter F. Phillips IV; and several nieces.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Al Thorne officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or a favorite charity. Baxter,
I remember your mother from our childhood when I was invited to Beverley's birthday parties and you and your family were always there. Then there was the ride back to Ferrum College in your little sports car. Wonderful old memories of your family! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.
