GEORGE AHREND Obituary
He served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the MCB1 and I 133 Battalions with the Seabees from 1970-1978. After serving his Country he worked for Reco, Titmus and Inframetals. He also worked for Century 21. George was a past commander at American Legion Post 284, Colonial Heights, VA and a past Director of the American Legion Riders. He was also Past Chef de Gare Voiture Locale 1530 Colonial Heights, VA. He then retired and was able to do what he loved most, RIDE!
He was preceded in death by his parents George F. and Elsie (Torvund) Ahrend and Grandson Zachary Ahrend. George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Chris (Van Volkom) Ahrend, sons Charles "Chuck" Ahrend (Kimberly) and George "Chip" Ahrend (Christy). Granddaughter Brittany Ahrend, brother Greg Ahrend (Debbye) and sisters Elsie Ahrend and Ellen Santacroce (Michael). 3 step-grandchildren and 1 step great grand daughter. Several nieces and nephews and his other Mother-in-law Jenny Van Volkom.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Hopewell J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Hopewell J.T. Morriss & Sons followed by internment at Virginia Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Legion Post 284. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.

May you Rest in Paradise Grandpa George. We didn't spend a lot of time together toward you're passing, but I have our last Thanksgiving dinner picture together, which I will hang on my wall. We all had some great times. I love you and the entire family. We will all be reunited one day.
