To: Glen Powell, my wife Nancy’s father, my father in law and my children Leah, Alec and Sara Rabinowitz’s grandfather.

It is with a heavy heart, filled with grief that cannot be explained in words that we learned of your untimely passing on the evening of Wednesday July 20th. While we are all heartbroken and deeply saddened that we were not with you immediately prior to your fatal illness, we are at the very least grateful that Nancy was able to share your last days with you.

We hope that your funeral will be one of a celebration of your life, rather than that of your passing. I would like to recall our fond memories and the many positive ways that you have touched our lives, which will forever change us.

Your first and most precious gift to me is my wife Nancy. It is said that in many ways children are a reflection of their parents. Nancy inherited many of her good traits from you. Kindness, caring, sympathy and patience. I am truly fortunate to be married to someone with her qualities, in large part learned from you. Thank you.

Your second gift to me, was my ability to reconnect to the countryside. Even though I grew up on a sheep farm as a little boy, I had become very urbanized. I remember the joy when I first set sight on your beautiful house with its glimmering pond. I have fond memories of you making us breakfast, you feeding the fish with my children watching intently, catching my first cat fish in your pond and the many subsequent other fish with Leah, Alec and then Sara. I have fond memories of both you and I driving the children on your tractor and the many evenings we shared dinner at King’s barbeque. Every single trip I made to Sutherland, without exception I only heard kind words about you, which were no doubt well deserved.

Your third gift to me, are my beautiful three children Leah, Alec and Sara. Through Nancy they too have inherited many of your wonderful qualities. Even though you have passed, through my children and my wife you will live for many decades to come.

I am truly sorry I cannot be at your funeral in person, but I am there in spirit.
You will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Rest in Peace Glenn

Much love and warmth to Glenn, my grandfather. Back then, days seemed longer, like time never passed, just more time to spare. I remember my little ages with you, sitting on your lap on the tractor, mowing fields and fields beyond, fishing in front of your house wondering what I could find down there. Then to late nights at our favorite place to eat together- Kings BBQ. It was like yesterday I was sitting upstairs playing with my mother and brothers toys, smelling the sweet southern aroma of something good cooking. From homemade biscuits, to egg salad sandwiches. Walking and entering your home, always knowing your kind heart, while I saw you kept pictures of me stuck on your refrigerator, so no matter how close or far away I was, you would always have me there. As time passed, you moved to your new home the Dunlop house, where I saw pure magic glow. This magic came from you adapting to a new home, watching you play bingo, sitting on the porch with your friends. You always knew how to make everyone smile, starting conversations, asking me how everything was going back in California, always seeming to make sure everyone else was good before yourself. Now its hard to believe you have passed away. Now you will embark on a new beginning, staying safe and sound, all my thoughts go to you on this day. Your love, care, and support has been a gift you delivered and everyone gathered here today all share those moments with you. Its upsetting to see you go, but in your heart you will always know, that there is a place for you and me, to share love you'll always see.

Grandpa
When I remember my grandfather I remember siting on his lap riding his john deere tractor. I remember his house being my favorite place. I remember fishing at his pond. I remember playing with the dogs that lived next door. I also remember how he made chip beef and biscuits for breakfast. I remember his funny sayings and jokes. Most of all I remembers outgoing personality and his love for the world. He has been the greatest any Grandfather could be and I miss him dearly. I wish I could be there to remember such wonderful human being. But sadly I can not.
Rest in peace Grandpa. Alec Rabinowitz
