Harold Sims Obituary
He is survived by his wife, Vernell Sims; one son, Harold E. Sims Jr.; one daughter, Cheryl E. Sims; six grandchildren, Tyneca Sims-Jefferson, Nadia Sims, Dr. Tiffany Morris, Crystal Bloomfield, Quandras Sims and Ja'net Forte; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma S. Collins; two brothers, Leon E. and Adolph A. Sims; two aunts, Susie Gorham and Alma Simmons; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, among them a devoted nephew, the Rev. Timothy M. Collins; one daughter-in-law, Bernadine Mitchell; four sisters-in-law, Louise and Alvah Sims, Mary L. McLeod and Nelly Webb; six brothers-in-law, Alvin E. Collins Sr., Alvin China and Tim Cook, John, David and Harrison McLeod; and other relatives and friends.
He was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Midlothian, Va. After serving faithfully and honorably, he retired from the U.S. Army as command sergeant major.
Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Ave., where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Baptist Church-South, 700 E. Belt Blvd., where remains will lie in repose one hour prior funeral time. Dr. Lance Watson (pastor). Dr. Eugene Brown (eulogy). Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family, friends and organizations assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Online condolences can be made at www.jenkinsjr.com.

I got to know the Sims family in the 70's when visiting my Godparents the Watkins. I later worked with Mr. Sims at the 80th Division in Richmond. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.
