JAMES W. WALKER

Mr. James Willie Walker, 64, of 313 St. Luke St., Petersburg, departed this life Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. He was born on March 9, 1949, to Willis Alexander Walker and the late Beatrice L. Batts Walker.

Mr. Walker was educated in the Dinwiddie County school system and was employed by Brenco Inc. until 2001. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

Mr. Walker loved to fish, cook, detail cars, and was an avid sports fan. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his sister, Shirley A. Goodwyn; and brother-in-law, George Parker.

Left to cherish his memory: two sons, Damon Harper (Shunta), and Jerrell Rowe; two grandchildren, Damon K. Harper, and Serenity J. Harper; one sister, JoAnna Marie Parker; five brothers, Earl Walker, Melvin Walker (Joyce), Larry Walker (Terry), and Kevin Walker (Velva), all of Petersburg, and Michael Walker (Lori) of Wichita, Kansas; three aunts, Margaret Goode of Petersburg, Ann Batts and Elizabeth Brown, both of Dinwiddie; devoted friends, Melvin Gholson, James Dailey, Flossie Cheatam, Vincent Jiggetts, the Piney Beach family, and a host of nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends too numerous to name.

A service of love and remembrance for Mr. James W. Walker will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, the Rev. Maxine Winfield, associate minister of Gravel Run Baptist Church, Petersburg.
