JAMES WYATT Obituary

Mr. James L. Wyatt, 69, of Dewitt, Va., better known to family, friends and the community as "Buddy Roe," departed this life after a long battle of declining health on Friday, February 19, 2016. He was a native of Dinwiddie County, son of the late William and Corrine Chesnut Wyatt. He was preceded in death by siblings, William, Charlie, Leonard (" Boaty"), Norman ("Pepper") and Thomas "Pab" Wyatt, Sarah Matthews, Evelyn Jennings and Mary Frances Gee. At early age he was baptized and became a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist church.

He later moved to New York until 1970 in which he decided to move back to Virginia to raise his family. He was employed by Brown and Williamson tobacco company until he later decided to become an entrepreneur. In 1984 "Buddy Roe" opened a gas station in Dewitt and then later a used car lot.He was the owner and operator of Wyatt Auto Sales for over 20 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving devoted wife of 49 years Joyce Wyatt; sons, Keith D. Wyatt and Kenneth "Dirk" Wyatt (Lorrie), all of Dewitt, Va.; grandchildren, Alicia M. Pegram, Darius J. Wyatt, Daisha J. Wyatt, Destini J. Wyatt and Godfrey Whitehurst. He is also survived by one sister, Catherine "Kitty" Moore; two aunts, Virginia Wyatt and Zelma Wyatt; nieces, Cassandra Love (Tommy),Caroline Adkins and Dr. Sheron Wyatt, MD; nephews, Samuel Moore Jr, Norman J. Wyatt (Markeita), Irvin Wyatt, Royal Wyatt, Charles Moore (Diane), Bobby Wyatt, Lloyd Gee, Billy Wyatt and Donnie Matthews; mother-in-law, Marcella R. Faulcon; four sisters-in-law, Antionetta Eppes, Barbara Davis, Joan Wyatt and Wanda Belfield (Charles); and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to include Roderick Edwards, James Patterson, Greg Sturdivant and Clarence "Pappi" Wyche.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 12 noon at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, DeWitt, with the pastor, Rev. Gerald Q. Brandon, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the McKenney Chapel.
