JASON KOVALASKE Obituary

Jason "Jay" John Kovalaske, 48, a resident of Dinwiddie County, Va., went to be with his god and savior, March 6, 2015. Jason was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, on January 17, 1967, the son of Kenneth Purdie and Linda Purdie, owners of K&L Barbeque in Hopewell, Va., where Jason worked for 21 years, starting as a prep cook, line cook, meat cutter and eventually manager.

He is survived by his parents; Kenneth and Linda Purdie; children, Jason Kovalaske, Brittany Hinchey and Brandon Kovalaske; grandson, Aiden Kovalake; siblings, Dinelle Stone, Robert Kovalaske (Joe), Jesse Kovalaske, Sr. Steven Nugent (Angela), Amy Langford (Bobby); best friend, Melissa Gray; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Jason was a passionate mechanic, that loved cars and trucks. He was a jack of all trades, but his passion was being able to prepare food for the people of Hopewell and the surrounding areas. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all that loved him.

A visitation will held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA 23860. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015, 2 p.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son Hopewell Chapel. Interment will follow in East Matoaca Cemetery, Matoaca. So sorry for your loss. I have known Jason for a long time. He worked with my husband (Claiborne Bosher) at Blandford 66 many years ago, before going to K&L. He was such a nice person. He will be missed by many. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
