Joseph Simmons Obituary

Mr. Joseph Louis "Pee-Wee" Simmons, 59, of Dinwiddie, Va., passed at the home of his daughter, Joanne White, on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Simmons, and mother, Rosa Lee Murphy.

Joseph was born in Jacksonville, NC., and raised in the Petersburg/Dinwiddie area.

He leaves one daughter, Joanne White, with whom he lived with and took care for him until the end; one son, Darryl Allen; three grandsons; one brother, Robert Murphy; Leona Washington, who was like a mother to him for over 40 years; one uncle, Charles Simmons of Jacksonville, N.C.; a host of other relatives from North Carolina and friends.

A service of love and remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at the chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, Va. The Rev. Dr. Peter R. Jeffrey, First Baptist Church (West Petersburg), pastor, officiating.
