JOSHUA JOHNSON Obituary

Today we lay to rest our precious Joshua Lamont Johnson, born December 22, 1989, and was called to Glory March 31, 2018. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Alma Johnson and Albertice Johnson; as well as grandmother, Bertha Mae Johnson.

He was a graduate of Dinwiddie High School, class of 2008, where he played football with Dinwiddie south, Baseball and Wrestled. Joshua had a smile that would bring the light into the room and a laugh that could put a smile on any face. He was also a member of Sharon Baptist Church where he sung in the youth choir and attended vacation Bible school every summer.

Josh suffered from a rare disorder called MPAN for 28 years which disabled him mentally and physically, but despite all the setbacks, hospitalizations and long sleepless nights, Josh always had a smile that brightened the room and a VERY contagious laugh, he came out on top. Through all the ups and downs the Spirit of Joshua Lamont Johnson was never brought down.

Josh leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Rochelle L Lewis-Curry; two devoted stepfathers, Craig M. Lewis Sr. and Robert L Curry, both whom devoted their lives to making sure Josh was safe and happy. He also leaves his grandparents, Jesse T. Johnson, Sr. of Sutherland and Flossie Lewis of Petersburg; brothers, Christofer J. Johnson of Richmond, Tyree L Johnson (Jasmine) of Sutherland, Craig M. Lewis (Janae) of Petersburg, Craig Lewis Jr. of Sutherland; a sister, Desiree L Lewis of Sutherland; step siblings, Tierra Brown of Petersburg, Takeeya Harris of Chester and Taquan Curry-Foster of Colonial Heights; uncles, Jesse T. Johnson (Cheryl) of Oklahoma, Keith L. Johnson Sr. (Janet), Jessie Davis (Eingrett) of Texas, Ronnie Mahaffey (Torecco), James Lewis (Nichelle); aunts, Amanda Johnson, Stacie Williams, Karen Lewis, Diane Johnson (Oklahoma), Francine Curry, Judy Curry-White; as well as three nephews and four nieces; a host of loving cousins such as Sherry Lewis, Tyasia Williams, Jessica Johnson, Dwayne Johnson, Keisha Mickles (Corey), Keith Johnson Jr.; a countless number of loving family and friends from Dinwiddie, Petersburg, California, Philadelphia, and New Jersey.
