LAWRENCE C. YAROSZ JR.

Lawrence Charles Yarosz, Jr., 89, of Prince George, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Born in Weirton, WV, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Edna Yarosz and was preceded in death by his wife, Coral, two brothers, Carl and Raymond, and five sisters Helen, Violet, Sophie, Annie, and Dolly. He was a proud member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 10571 (now disbanded) of Prince George. He served honorably in the United States Army, retiring at Fort Lee after 21 years at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served two terms in Vietnam (1967 and 1969) where he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After retiring from the US Army, he worked at John Randolph Hospital, then as an auto mechanic for the Department of the Army at Fort Lee, where he retired in 1989 and a short time as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He is survived by two sisters, Edna and Amelia; his son, Mark and his wife, Carolyn; three daughters, Mary Beth Mitchem, Patty Ann Warthan and her husband, Guy, and Anna Marie Foye; eleven grandchildren, Dena, Matthew, Adam and his wife, CaSandra, Drew, Tiffany, Tamica and her husband, Andre, Quincy, Keith and his wife, Holly; eleven great grandchildren, Braydon, Colton, Reid, Ella, Ethan, Emma, Olivia, Madison, Natalie, Katie and CJ and his special friends, the owner and staff at Luca's Italian restaurant (which he dearly loved) and his close friend, Mike Lipp. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 24, 2021, at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Father Joe Goldsmith as celebrant.
