Mary Booth Obituary

Mrs. Mary Louise Pride Booth, 75, of 420 South Avenue, Hopewell, formerly of Stony Creek, Va., departed this life Saturday evening Nov. 27, 2010, at the River View on the Appomattox, Hopewell, Va.

She was born Feb. 14, 1935, to the late George F. Pride and the late Mary Liza Dailey. At an early age, she confessed Christ and became a member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va. Later in life, she united with the Galilee Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va. She was a lady with a humble spirit and will be truly missed by all of her family and the community.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Gloria E. Stewart of Ettrick, Phyllis Jones Barnes (Jerry) and Oliva Pegram, both of Hopewell; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cora L. King of Stony Creek and Mable Thorne (Rosevelt) of Hopewell; one sister-in-law, Delores Foster of Philadelphia, Pa.; aunts, Cressie Flowers of Stony Creek, Marian Wilson and Mae Smith, both of New Jersey, Irene Robinson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one uncle, Oscar Pride of Carson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Galilee Baptist Church, Stony Creek, with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Linwood James, officiating. Burial will follow at the Pride Family Cemetery, Stony Creek. The family will assemble at the residence, 420 South Avenue Hopewell at 1 p.m. on the day of the service for the procession. Mrs. Booth may be viewed on Wednesday at the McKenney Chapel from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the J.M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd., McKenney. (804) 478-4411.

I will always remember her beautiful smile. I had asked Gloria about her on last Friday @ Wal-Mart. To the Family: Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. Remember the joys and her laughter as you heal through this season.
