MILDRED TREASTER PLESANT

1929 - 2019

Mildred (Millie) Treaster Pleasant, 89, of Hopewell, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2019, after a brief illness. Millie was born on April 8, 1929, in Disputanta, Virginia. On September 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Thomas Samuel Pleasant, Jr. No matter whether she was called Mom, Nannie, or simply Millie she loved, listened, and laughed with all. She worked in the Hopewell Public School System for 20 years and was an active member and volunteer of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rebecca Treaster; her loving husband, (Junior) Tom Pleasant; daughter, Becky Yeratt; son, Tommy; daughter-in-law, Brenda Houff Pleasant; and son-in-law, Rick Griffith;eight sisters, Mary Mcclure, Dorothy Hufnal, Elizabeth Rodkey, Ada Pearson, Georgia Krick, Sarah Simmons, Gladys Browder, Charlotte Dudley; and four brothers, James, Buddy, Bobby and Clair Treaster.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Cathy Griffith; son-in-law, Percy Yeratt; grandchildren, Pamela Sue Witt (Skip), Christian Griffith (Stephanie), Nathaniel Griffith (Meghan), Chad Pleasant (Lindsey); great grandchildren, Jacob, Reagan, Lincoln, Patrick, Andrew; and a close family friend, Janice Baum. Also her sister-in-law, Frances Treaster and special niece, Helen Mitchell in addition to nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, Hopewell, and a Celebration of her life will be Friday, January 11, 2019, at 11 a.m., Wesley United Methodist Church, Hopewell. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, Petersburg VA. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 2901 Norfolk Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
