NATHANIEL LEWIS SR.

Our hearts were saddened by the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Mr. Nathaniel Lewis Sr., of 141 Clayton Street, Petersburg, VA, who passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.
Nathaniel was born April 25, 1936. He was better known to many as "Nat" or "Sonny". He was employed with Walthall Construction for thirty-four years. He loved to play the piano, singing, watching martial arts movies starring Bruce Lee and boxing matches, especially those with Muhammad Ali. He believed in taking pride in his daily attire, physical fitness and eating a holistic diet.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Delores Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, devoted Nathaniel Lewis Jr. (Vanessa) of North Chesterfield, devoted Anthony Lewis of Prince George and Curtis Williams Jr. of Petersburg; four daughters, Nanette Choice (Dedrick) of South Carolina, whom he cherished, Salena Williams-Grant of West Virginia, Marion Cooper (Rudolph) and Janice Williams, all of Petersburg; daughter-in-law, Janice Sykes-Lewis; brothers-in-law, Edward Lewis (Carolyn) of Macon GA, Harold Lewis (Pansy), Michael Lewis (Marsha), James Henderson and James Lyons, all of Petersburg; sisters-in-law, Linda Cannon of Medesto, CA and Sharon Lewis of Petersburg; aunt, Sharon Lewis Pooe; grandchildren, Charle', Destinee, Nathaniel "Trey", Shavon Lewis, Marquell, Markeen and Markeshia Cypress, Tytwan Williams (Rosie), Shekena, Curtis III, Romine, Trakeca, Trakeda, and Travis Williams, Montell and Marvin Stevenson; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends to include Richard Flowers.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the chapel of Bland & Tucker Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg. Interment will follow at Amelia Veterans Cemetery.
