Osborne Richardson Obituary

Mr. Osborne "Foots" or "O.C." Richardson, 64, of 2518 Parkview Ave., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Va., following a lengthy illness.

A native of Petersburg, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Catherine Edwards Richardson. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Agertha Richardson, Roland Richardson and Elliott Richardson.

He was educated in the Petersburg school system and was a member of Peabody High School Class of 1966, and was an employee of the Virginia Department of Corrections for over 31 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

"Foots" leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Brandon Terrell Richardson of Lawrenceville, Va.; one brother, Joseph F. Richardson of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Jacqueline D. Richardson of Takoma Park, Md., Catherine R. Hayes (Henry) of Petersburg, Va., and Gail R. Hayes (Preston) of Ettrick, Va.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will truly be missed for his unselfish generosity and concern for others and love for his family, co-workers and many friends. Special thanks to the medical staff at the VCU Massey Cancer Center and Acute Care Center at MCV Hospitals, and Hospice of Virginia's Inpatient Unit at Retreat Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va. Interment to follow at Little Church Street Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 20224 Loyal Ave., Ettrick, and may be contact by calling (804) 520-2508.

Contributions may be made to the VCU Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 980214, Richmond, VA 23298-0214, or American Hospice Foundation, 2120 L Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037, in memory of Osborne C. Richardson.
