Pamela Ragsdale Obituary

Mrs. Pamela Lee Ragsdale "Pamalena" age 44, of 25903 Dinwiddie Ave., West Petersburg, departed this life Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

She was born June 17, 1966, to Sandra Lee Hunt and Andrew Leon Lee. Pamela attended and graduated from Petersburg High School. She later attended Kee Business College in Richmond where she studied in the Medical Assistance Program. Pamela was employed with Dinwiddie Southside Elementary School as a cook. She was also a cook at various other jobs to include; Kentucky Fried Chicken, Denny's Restaurant in Chester and Mayfair Adult Home. "Pamalena" as she was fondly called, also worked at Petersburg Public Utilities and Nation's Bank in Richmond. Mrs. Ragsdale was a member of the First Baptist Church, West Petersburg joining at an early age. Later she joined the New Birth Apostolic Faith Church, Portsmouth. Pamalena loved to sing gospel music but most of all she loved the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Cassie Johnson and Ruby Lee; her grandfathers, Douglas Lee, Ralph Johnson and Charlie Beasley; four uncles, Daniel Lee, Abraham Lee, Willard Lee and Chester Lee; her extended family members, Willie Johnson, Betty Johnson, Juanita Sandelson and Minnie Jones.

Pamela leaves to cherish her memories; her devoted husband of 23 years, Joseph Michael Ragsdale Sr., West Petersburg; her devoted mother Sandra Lee Hunt; her father, Andrew Leon Lee; her step-father Samuel Hunt; her son, Joseph Michael Ragsdale Jr.; two brothers, Andrew Allen Lee III and Jerome Lee both of Petersburg; a devoted sister, Teresa D. Lee and niece, Ciarra Webb, Petersburg; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Alice Ragsdale, Katie and Jimmy Jones of Petersburg; Ralph and Barbara Ragsdale, Floyd and Connie Ragsdale, Doretha Ragsdale, Annie Ragsdale all of Colonial Heights; Bobbie & Celita, Jonathan and Cynthia Ragsdale all of Richmond, Deborah Ragsdale of Sandston and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p. m., Monday, July 5, 2010, at the chapel of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The Rev. Peter Jeffries, Pastor of First Baptist Church, West Petersburg, will deliver the message of remembrance at the graveside service. Family and friends are asked to assemble 9:15 a.m. at the residence, 25903 Dinwiddie Ave. West Petersburg on the day of service.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg.
