RANDOLPH GRANDERSON SR.

Mr. Randolph "Clunk" Granderson, Sr., age 82, of 19101 Templeton Road, Carson, Va., passed peacefully away at Dinwiddie Rehabilitation Center, North Dinwiddie, Va., on Saturday, March 4, 2017. He was born February 4, 1935, to the late Isaac and Carrie Washington Granderson. Randolph was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 55 years, Roberta Myrick Granderson; son, Michael Granderson; three brothers, Isaac Granderson, Jr., Glover Lee Granderson and Cleveland Granderson; sisters, Alease Raines, Vivian Gatlin and Theresa Granderson; and a devoted, nephew, Don Cornelius Myrick.

Randolph was educated in Prince George County Public Schools. He sacrificed his education and stopped in the 5th grade, so that he could help his father at home to enable his younger siblings the opportunities to further their education. Randolph was employed and retired from Firestone with 38 years of service.

He accepted the Lord at a young age at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church in Carson, Va. He served faithfully as a member of the ushers, combined sanctuary choir, male chorus and the church custodian until the declining of his health. He enjoyed holding the microphone, praising God down the aisles of the church singing, "Everyday will be like Sunday."

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Mary Granderson, Randolph Granderson, Jr., Jerome Granderson (Tiffany), Michelle Tazewell (Antonio), Andre Granderson (Jennifer); and daughter-in-law, Sabrina Granderson. He also leaves to cherish his memory seventeen grandchildren, one devoted grandchild, Shaquila Granderson; six great grandchildren; a devoted niece and nephew who was reared in the household, Cheryl "Kuna" Myrick and Martin Myrick: brothers, George "Buttercup" Hunt of Newport News, Va., Lanston Granderson (Evelyn) and James Granderson (Mary), both of Petersburg, Va.; sisters, Katie Mayes of Petersburg, Va., Jeryline Dillard and Ethel M. Williams, both of Prince George, Va.; one aunt, Celia Givens of Prince George, Va.; and a host of other devoted nieces, nephews, friends, business associates, and the devoted staff and caregivers of Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Services for Mr. Randoldph Granderson, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 10, 201, at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church, 20800 Templeton Road, Carson, Va., the Rev. Dr. George Mayes, eulogist. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.

The family will assemble at 1 p.m. the day of the service and receive friends at 327 Blackwater Drive, Petersburg, Va.
