He was my high school counselor and teacher at SVA. The BEST class I ever had was Biology II when I was 15 y/o with Mr Bendall. I still have the notes I took in that class. Testing was all written from classroom lectures. I never had a better class even in college-PUC or Loma Linda University where I graduated from physical therapy. He counseled me when I got in trouble without condemnation and helped me make things right. He had a great sense of humor. He would wait until someone went to sleep in his class and then he would take the yard stick and wack the large metal "desk" with it loudly, causing the sleeping person to jump pretty high! Lots of other funny things. I did hate the "bug" classification part though! Cat lab was great.
He influenced me for life. A few years ago I was thinking of him and found his website and called him and talked to him for a bit. I found that paper today, and was saddened to learn of his passing. But it won't be long and we'll see him again if we are faithful. Thank you God for teachers who love you and kids too.

My prayers are with you at this time,I remember Richard very well from church
and how much he was involved in building the new church. And when I visited Mom and Dad,and go to church with them I would make sure I saw him.

I was very saddened to hear of Richard's passing. He has been a friend and confident for my entire family. He spent many hours with my Dad, Bill(Lyle)Clark before he passed. He was there for each of us for days and weeks following my Mom and Dads death. He visited me on numerous occasions. He was a kind and understanding man. He was a special man,a gift from God. I will miss him.
