God in His Infinite Wisdom rolled back the curtains to call his child home. On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, Mr. Richard Wilson Kershaw was called from labor to reward. A native of Lugoff, SC, Richard was born September 20, 1939, to the late James and Lizzie Kershaw. At an early age Richard moved to Petersburg, VA., along with family. There he met and fell in love with his lovely wife of 53 years, Mary Rose (Howard) Kershaw.
Richard received his education in Petersburg Public Schools. He attended Peabody High School. Richard had a love for the Petersburg High School Crimson Waves. His passion was for the football and basketball team in which he supported. Richard was an advocate and a great contributor towards the teams. He supported the teams by donating his time and support. His contributions included, but were not limited to, repairing chairs and benches, as well as numerous financial contributions.
For over 40 years, Richard worked for Norris E Jones Inc. until retirement. He loved building houses and working on various construction jobs. Richard was very talented in what he did.
Richard loved family. He devoted his time and effort into making sure he helped everyone.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mary Rose Kershaw; two devoted sons, Robert Lee (Gwendolyn), and Wayne Kershaw; one devoted daughter, Arlanda Howard (Ronald); four devoted grandchildren, DeShaye Howard (Erica), in which he raised as his own, LaToya Howard, LaQuita Howard, and Raven Howard (Corey); eight great-grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Mary Muckle and Louise Neverson; one dear brother, William Kershaw; brothers-in-law, Charles Howard (Monica) and Herbert Howard (Niecy);a devoted nephew, Michael Kershaw (Felica); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
