RISCA M. EDLIN

Risca Mary Edlin, 98, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Born in the Netherlands, she was the daughter of the late D. Th. and Rosetta Jaarssma. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marinus and Thiss Jaarssma and her husband, Everett D. Edlin in 2013.
She is survived by her children, Joanna Stark and husband Ron, Everett Edlin and wife Deborah, Walter Edlin and wife Sharon, Tommy Barrett and wife Robin, and Rosemary Goodman and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Raya Rivera, Cody and Tobey Edlin, Ashley Marantz and husband Corin, Stephanie Haydt and husband Hunter, Benjamin and Mara Barrett, and Nikki Goodman and Rhett Richardson; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Marantz, Mason Edlin, and Brant and Grace Haydt; nephews, Pieter and Doede Jaarssma; Buddy Edlin and his daughter Marcia Orsburn; and extended family, Marion and Richard Lane and children, and Mildred Ovens.
Risca was a graduate of the Teacher's College of the Netherlands and taught elementary school in Dinwiddie County and later owned and operated Hollandia's Boutique in Petersburg.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
