ROY LEE GREEN

1951 - 2021

Mr. Roy Lee Green of 1923 Chuckatuck Avenue, Petersburg, VA departed this life suddenly Saturday, January 9, 2021. Roy was born July 14, 1951, in Sussex, VA. He was the son of the late James Jeffery and Rosa Lee Hill Green.

At an early age, Roy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the Little Mount Baptist Church Sussex, VA. He attended Sussex County Public Schools and later would continue his education at Job Corps in Boise Idaho. He held numerous jobs to include the Button Factory, Fort Lee, and Jay's Tires retiring soon after.

Roy was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed working on cars, listening to his music, playing the lottery, watching Westerns and his Soaps. He was an avid fan of the Washington Team (formerly Washington Redskins). He was the life of any party.

Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Green Manson; three brothers-in-law, Earl Harris, Norman Hall and William Hall; and a sister-in-law, Sammie Green.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories two loving daughters whom he loved dearly, Veronica and Demetria Green of McKenney, VA; his adorable grandchildren, Shawn Alston Jr., TyKwuan Weaver, JaKesa and Jakri Batts all of McKenney, VA; great grandchildren, Giovanni, Jakeriah, Jayce, Kyren, Khole and Gianni; two daughters at heart whom he loved like his very own, LeVonda and Shaquetta Hall; a devoted sister, Sheila G. Harris of Petersburg, VA; three caring brothers, Robert T. Green of Baltimore, MD, Joe B. Green (Cora) of Prince George, VA, and James L. Green (Hattie) of Petersburg, VA; a former wife and mother of his children, Joyce Hall of McKenney, VA; former loving mother-in-law Marie Hall of McKenney, VA whom he cherished; a former sister and brothers-in-law, Rosalyn Hall and Barney Hall of McKenney, VA, Junius M. Jones of Sussex, VA and Franklin Manson Sr.; a son-in-law Edward Batts Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to include Michael Jones and Jacqueline Baker of Maryland, Rachel Dillard (Kelvin) of Prince George, VA, Joyace Jones (Peter) and Florence Parker both of Petersburg, VA, Franklin Cliffard and Harold Walker both of Pennsylvania, and Norman Brown (Rev. Della) of Petersburg, VA, the Dennis Family, William (Bubba) Richard, Jack(deceased), Eddie and Milton, Lisa Myers and Family, and Joseph Hayes.

The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Manu Gadani, Dr. Reiter, VCU Cancer Center, and Dr. Nalluri, VA Cancer Institute for their care and support over the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 12 noon on the grounds of the Johnson Funeral Home, Petersburg. Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, from 12 Noon to 7 p.m.
