RUBY JONES Obituary
On Saturday, November 28, 2015, God saw she was tired and needed rest so He sent His angels to welcome home my wife, our mother, our grandmother, our sister and our friend, Mrs. Ruby Spencer Jones.
Mrs. Ruby Spencer Jones was born March 17, 1953, in Sussex County, Va. She was the daughter of the late Roy McKinley and Fannie Rebecca Spencer. She was the third oldest of ten children. Ruby was educated in the Chesterfield County Public Schools. She retired from the Southside Virginia Training Center after 32 years of service.
At an early age she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and later joined Shiloh Baptist Church, South Chesterfield, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Spencer, Jr.
On November 20, 1971, Ruby married Michael F. Jones. From this union they were blessed with two children, Mitchell B. Jones and Tamara L. Jones. Mitchell and Tamara blessed her with two beautiful granddaughters, Neaveh and Tamyah Jones.
Ruby's memory will be cherished by her siblings, Thomas Spencer (Carolyn), Vivian Robinson (Clifford), Erma Rogers (Otis), Gloria Allen (Wonell), Wincie James (Clyde), Sharon Spencer (Lawrence), Jean Spencer (Marvin) and Tangela Blantch (Timothy); aunts, Sula Todd (Atwater) and Daisy Harrison (Henry); uncle, John Ridley; former daughter-in-law, Monica Jones; in-laws; Shirley Young, Joyce Harris (Charlie), James Jones III (Cheryl), Phyllis Washington (Theodore) and Charmaine Jordan (Leon). Ruby will be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends (close friend, Delphi Coleman), neighbors and former co-workers.
Ruby will be remembered for her big smile and her green thumb of turning bare spaces and weeds into beautiful landscape and flower bed. She made family gatherings memorable whether she was assisting with the cooking or serving of the food, her jokes, or being the first person to get everyone dancing with the electric slide, wobble or any current dance.
Services for Mrs. Ruby Jones will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., pastor, and Rev. Marcus Leggett, pastor, Shiloh Baptist Church, South Chesterfield, Va., eulogist. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will assemble at 12 noon the day of the services and receive friends at 7801 Edwin Lane, South Chesterfield, Va.. The family may also be contacted by calling (804) 590-1393.

Im at a loss for words right now,Ms Ruby was a kind, sweet ,funny person to be around.I met Mrs.Jones @SVTC unit 3 26/27 she was my leadwoker on evening shift and she was an amazing woman we always had a good time at work I enjoyed coming to work because I knew we had each others backs.To The Family Of Mrs.Jones may God continue to watch over you all throughout this trying time she is at peace now no more pain or suffering.Remember the good times you all had with her and that bright smile she had, she will forever live on in your hearts.May she Rest in Peace.

I was so saddened to hear of Ruby's death. I also worked with her for many years at Southside Va. Training Center, she was a kind and loving person, and a very dedicated worker to the persons she served.
