If there were something we could do to ease the pain of your loss, we would. At a time like this, words seem so empty. More than that, may you be strengthened by your faith and the promises of God, who will never leave you nor forsake you.

Dearest Joyce and Family,
The same very loving, caring God who blessed Sam with a golden voice is the same God you can lean on during this most difficult time of your life. He is that rock in a weary place, He can supply all your needs, He loves you! I heard and felt that love in the voices of the Alfred Street male choir and the feeling that Sam lives on in our Spirit. Sing long, shout even louder and rejoice! Carmencita

Dearest Joyce: words seem so inadequate at such a sad time as this. However, I'd like to make one observation. After meeting Sam and being in his company a few times (and knowing the person that you have always been), I was very much aware of how "well suited" you and Sam were for each other. Sam's quiet, calm demeanor spoke volumes! Our deep regret is that Mike and I never heard him sing! To God be the glory for his presence among us! Sleep well Sam, we'll see you in the Morning.

Peace, Blessings and Expressions of sympathy are extended from my family to yours. I didn't know Sam personally but from what I've read in the guest book I can surmise that he was great friend and probably a better companion than most. You chose a picture that displayed one of his most winning features, (from what I've been able to determine by reading) a smile that came from someplace deep within him. I wish I had had the opportunity to know him before he passed because it would have been fun exploring the possibilities of a potential connection between our families with someone who loved both life and people in the fashion other signers have represented. No one knows the depth of the loss this is to you and your family but we all send our prayers.

I am saddened to hear of your family's lost. I met Sam shortly after joining GAO from high school in 1989. Soon after working with him, I realized that he was a man of few words. But whenever he did speak, he spoke with wisdom.

I will always remember his smile and chuckles.

Class, Character, and a great voice. Those are just three attibutes that come to mind when I think of Sam Cox. Doing the time we spent at GAO, I always appreciated the wisdom that he brought to any conversation. Thank God for allowing him to live long enough to see the first Black President of the U.S. For if I know Sam, it is something that surely made him proud.

May the comforting thought from the Bible book of Revelation, the 21st chapter, verse 4 be of comfort to you. It reads: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” I offer my sincere condolences to you all.

I had the honor of working with Sam Cox during the 1980s at GAO...the U.S. Government Accountibiltiy Office (nee General Accounting Office). Sam was a wonderful man, with a great sense of style!

I remember when I joined the new defense division in GAO, NSIAD/Navy Group, and Sam was my neighbor across the aisle with NSIAD/Air Force Group. I knew nothing about Defense Department operations but Sam took time to generously share his extensive knowledge, his wit, ideas, and guidance. He was a mentor and encourager. It was a joy coming to work and seeing Sam and the wonderful work team every day. I am so very thankful to him. He was such a blessing to me and to all who called him friend, colleague. God Bless His Family.
