Petersburg - Mr. Shawn Aunta Brown, 37, of Petersburg, Virginia departed this earth on Monday July 19, 2021. Born August 30, 1983 in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Jacqueline Benita Brown- Edwards and Carroll Bernard Parham. He attended Petersburg High School.
Shawn Brown, affectionately known as "Redd", was always enjoying family and friends, and was the first person on the dance floor, and the last to leave. He believed in enjoying life. He entered the Heavenly gates with that special smile, and was greeted by his mother Jacqueline Bonita Brown Edwards and grandmother, Elmyra "Mikey" Brown, to live eternally in that place free of pain and suffering.
He leaves to treasure his memory, his father, Carroll B. Parham "Knot" (Hilda) ; two daughters, Takaylia Mason, and Ta'Shawna Mason; one unborn grandchild; one son, Taishaun D. Craddock; siblings, Ronica Brown, Monta Brown, La'Quisha (Killah) Brown, and La'Reisha Gillespie, nephew, Draquawn, Jacqauntues, Jakeil, Messiah, and Jeremiah Brown,; three nieces, Quemiyah Raigns-Brown, Praise and Serenity Brown; uncle, Alvin Parham; Aunt, Velvamine Adams-Parham (Roger); two great aunts, Ruth Wormley (Tyrone), and Dorethea Curley; great uncle, Norman Brown (Della); god mother, Beverly Hairston; three god sisters, Shantelle Massenburg, Krystale Granderson, and Vansheika Stewart; special uncle/cousin, William Brown (Linda), and special aunt/cousin, Jewell Massenburg (Ryan), former wife, Shiketa Mason; devoted friends, Rollie Brown, Carl Smith, Jerome Tucker, Clifton Raigns, Jr., Antonio Pratcher, Sr., the Pratcher and Mason Family; a very special person in his life, Rashera Jean-Giles, and a step father, Quinton Edwards; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday July 25, 2021 at 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Johnson Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Bobby Taylor, officiating. Public viewing will be held on Saturday July 24, 2021 from 12 Noon to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
