Virginia Miller Obituary

On Monday, April 27, 2009, our hearts were sadden with the passing of our loved one, Mrs. Virginia Payne Miller (Gin), 62, of 631 Jefferson Place, Petersburg, Va., formerly of Bradenton, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Viola Jones; father, Mr. Charlie Pride; and one nephew, Master Stacey Brown.

While living in Florida, Gin worked as a van driver for the Boys and Girls Club, the Manatee County Schools as a bus driver, the Gulf Coast Marine Institute and she was the special assistant to the pastor of her church, The Grace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Mr. Isaiah D. Payne Sr. of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Blowe and Ms. Deborah Jones, both of the home, and Mrs. Barbara Jean Brown (Deacon Robert Brown); two adopted sisters, Mrs. Bertha Green and Ms. Jeanette Corrall, all of Petersburg, Va.; one cousin, Mrs. Ada Cox of Petersburg, Va.; one grandson, Sgt. Isaiah D. Payne Jr. (Tameka) of Fort Campbell, Ky.; two great-grandsons, Isaiah D. Payne III and Caleb Payne, both of Fort Campbell, Ky.; two nephews, Michael Blowe (Tarsha) and Barnette Pride (Lena); two nieces, Yolonda Pride and Kenna Blowe; one goddaughter, Ms. Tameka Walker; two great-nieces, Katoria and Jasmine Pride; five great-nephews, Jayden, Zahmir, Deyan, Daryan and Dahmyr, all of Petersburg, Va.; devoted family and friends, Nancy Pride, Dinean Smith, Frances Richardson, Elsie Cunningham and The Grace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church family.

Special thanks to the staff at VCU/MCV Medical Center and the Good Shepherd Baptist Church family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., senior pastor, officiating and Pastor Danny Harris of The Grace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, Florida, eulogist. The interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
