WARREN PARHAM Obituary
He was a gentleman, father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was the son of the late Robert Parham and Lizzie Parham Gilliam. He was born on June 29, 1926, in Greensville County, Va.
Warren was joined in holy matrimony to Mary Frances Gray in April of 1972. To this union they adopted one son, Christopher D. Parham.
He started his Christian life at an early age and professed Christ at Mars Hill Baptist Church. Warren later joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, where he served as a faithful member for over 20 years until his health began to decline. He was also a devoted mason for 50-plus years at Emporia Lodge #101.
Warren drove the school bus for numerous years. He and his wife also established the Parham's Trucking business until retirement, which he drove dump trucks for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Parham; two sisters, Naomi and Allie Bee; and one stepdaughter, Elva Gray Ash.
Left to cherish his memory are: one son, Christopher O. Parham; six stepdaughters, Sylvia Harrison (Willie), Ollie Gray, Gloria Gray, Romonia Pinkney (Karl), Dorisine Jenkins and Blondia Gray; two stepsons, Clinton Gray Jr. (Tasha) and Donald Gray (Kayola); one sister, Lizzie James; three brothers, Oscar, Robert and Larney Parham; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, April 27, 2012, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg. The pastor, the Rev. Wesley K. McLaughlin, will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery, Low Ground Road, Greensville County, Va.
