William Edgar Baker
Chester - William Edgar Baker, 83, of Chester, passed away August 3, 2021. Mr. Baker was born September 29, 1937, in Bolton, NC, the son of Pearlie and Anna Baker, and had resided in Chester since 1987. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in chemical engineering, where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Alpha Chi Sigma, and The Jefferson Society. He retired from Hercules, Inc. in 1995, as a department superintendent after 34 years of service. He was a member of Chester Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Clara M. Baker; a son, C. Scott Baker (Shaun); a wonderful granddaughter; a sister, Carol Best; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Sidney, and a sister, Lucille. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm-4:00pm on Saturday August 14, 2021, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Please follow Covid guidelines. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to: DAV, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 or to the Chester Presbyterian Church, 3424 W. Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
