The memories of Ali remain in our hearts and always will. I only met Ali a few times, but when she passed, the sadness was overwhelming. The community was shaken and we all felt as if a piece of our heart was missing. I still have the bracelet that says Team Ali and the date November 7, 2012 is engraved in my memory. Ali was and still is an inspiration to our community and a spirit that will remain with us throughout out high school years and throughout our lives.

You and Ali have been in our hearts and prayers since this fight began. There are no words to express our empathy for your loss. On Thursday morning I shared Ali's story with my students and asked them to sing in honor of Ali and my teenage cousin Lauren who also died from brain cancer. I did the same with our audience that night and again they sang for Ali and Lauren. The song, "O Vos Omnes", is about the crucifiction. "All ye that pass by see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow. All ye my people, behold and see my sorrow, if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow."
