Always a pleasure to stop in and talk to Al, always a gentleman. I just loved the way he took such care of everything he owned including any little piece of paper that might have blown on his lot. I purchased Al's Kubota Backhoe he kept in his garage over 16 years ago, I still have it in my garage and Al would be proud of the way I have taken care of it. He was one of a kind and I will miss him.

Great person and hard worker. Always a pleasure when I met up with him while I worked at Kent county water auth. To make sure he didn’t bury the water boxes in yards lol. Will miss him a lot. He had an aura about him and will always think of him as a friend.

Al, the Mulch Man, as he was known in our family. Al always greeted us with a big smile and a great story and always a toot from the big red truck when he passed you on the road. My kids viewed him as a local legend. Bonnie, thank you for your kind and caring ways. The Millard Family

Rest in Peace Al. Always willing to help, always with the friendly wave, always delivering firewood, mulch, or out and about plowing snow. Your 'scary robber at the door" appearance as proclaimed to me by my kids one day truly belied the person that you truly were. An easy demeanor, easy to talk to, and always willing to help. You are and will be missed.

Alfred, you will always hold a special place in my heart! We knew each other many, many years and thru it all Alfred was always a sweetheart! I used to watch him in amazement...he would make sure there were no stray leaves on his beautiful green lawn! And if was, Alfred was out there with his leaf blower !! I can remember on a early Sunday morning; you can always count on Alfred with his leaf blower cleaning the street, his front lawn, the wood pile! There will never be another Alfred! We share the same birthday....so u can be guaranteed that I will NEVER, EVER forget gentle Alfred . You will be sorely missed Alfred

One of kind we have known al since we were kids. His dad Al and Goody were just like him, genuine friendly to all and always took the time to ask how your family was doing. I used to love driving by and find him on the wood or mulch pile and reminisce about old times. Sorry to hear he struggled for so long and glad he has been rewarded for a life well lived.

Thank you for writing such a heartfelt story of this kind man’s life. I didn’t know Alfred personally. However I remember the piles of firewood and mulch at his well kept business. Throughout the years I have heard many stories of Alfred’s kindness and second to none work ethic. What a wonderful soul. Rest In Peace.
