Arthur Bert

BERT, ARTHUR 84, of East Greenwich, passed away early morning on Thursday November 6, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born in Providence, he was the loving son of the late Joseph and Albertina (Pascal) Bert. Arthur was the devoted husband of Cecile Annette (Desaulniers) Bert, his "Jelly Bean", for 56 years. He was the loving father of Arthur Bert and his wife Judy-ann of Natick MA, Michelle (Bert) Davidson and her husband Michael of Andover, CT, Christopher Bert and his wife Rose of Portsmouth, Danielle (Bert) Place and her husband Glenn of East Greenwich, and Richard Bert and Michele Riley of Tampa, FL. Arthur was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Bryant College, and had served in the Rhode Island National Guard. He has been an East Greenwich resident for over 42 years. He was a parishioner and an usher at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Arthur spent most of his life running New England Picture Frame Company and Honeycomb Gallery, a business he began working for as a teenager, and later purchased and ran until retiring n 2003. He enjoyed tennis and golf throughout his seventies, but most enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Besides his wife and children he is survived by his grandchildren Michael Davidson and his wife Aryn, Alexandra Place, Alyssa Place, Harrison Bert, Connor Bert, Isabella Bert, Colton Bert, Alexis Souza, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Irma (Melino) Bert and Hugo Bert. He will be dearly missed by all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
