Bernie was in my class at Boston University School of Medicine. At the time, he was possibly the oldest freshman accepted at any US medical school. While initially it seemed strange to be in class with someone my parents' age he was quickly accepted as just "one of the guys." He was funny, energetic, and a much admired student. I still remember the shouts of support when he received his diploma. Shortly after graduation, we learned that his son had just been accepted as a first year medical student at BU - definitely a Hollywood ending! I'm so glad I got to know him...

I was so sad to hear about Dr. B. he was my first and best OB GYN. He delivered all three of my children and I feel blessed to have had him in my life. He was cut from the old cloth he gave of himself in a way that they can't teach you it has to be in your heart. I was his patient from the health center an where he went Ifollowed. He will always be in my heart an never forgotten. My prayers go out to his family, I know your loss is great.

Dear Jason and family,
My mother and I would like to send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. I heard about your father's passing through my new obgyn that took me three years to find because there was none like you and your father. You saved my mom's life and delivered both my children with the greatest care. I now know that you are in FL and wish you the best. We miss you! Our prayers are with you always!

Jason & Dr. Bernie's Family,
My mom brought me to Dr. Bernie when I was 18 years old in 1975 and I stayed with him until he retired. I remember he had pictures in his examining rooms of all the different babies that he delivered. He missed the birth of both of my sons by one day, but I got my picture of him holding my baby as soon as he got back. He took care of me even when he was away in Florida or Narragansett. He was the BEST doctor EVER! He was a great man, and I will always remember him and be thankful to him for saving my life. We love Dr. Bernie.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your husband, father and grandfather. Dr. Berstein delivered my children some 30 years ago and I credit him with saving my life and my son's life in a difficult delivery. He was a compassionate, caring doctor who always made time to really talk with his patients. May he rest in peace.
