BRYAN GORDON Obituary

GORDON, BRYAN J., 64, of Wilna Street, died Wednesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Linda C. (MacKay) Gordon to whom he was married for the past forty five years.

Born in Waterville, Maine, he was a son of the late Maurice and Joyce (Shorey) Gordon. Bryan was a patrolman for the Providence Police Department for twenty four years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge # 3, the Retired Providence Police & Firefighters Association, the Providence Police Association, the American Legion, Am Vets, and the National Rifle Association. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

Bryan loved springtime, because it gave him time to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and enjoy time with his wife and friends.

Beside his wife Linda, he leaves a son, Bryan J. Gordon and his wife Susan, of Scituate; a daughter, Lora J. Benetti and her companion, Joseph, of Pawtucket; two brothers, Anthony Raposa and Romeo Gordon; a sister, Donna Nelson; and four grandchildren, Alyssa, Robert, and Ariana Benetti and Zachary Gordon.

The funeral service will be held Monday, at 11:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Sunday, 3-7 pm. boyleandsonfuneralhome.com

I fondly recall Bryan as a quiet man who took pride in what he did. On many an occasion, we would work together on special details when I was driving Mayor Cianci and Bryan was a traffic motorcycle specialist.

May your family find peace at this time of sorrow and may you rest in peace.

My regrets on Bryan's passing. It has been a dozen years or so since we spoke, but the memories will live on. He was one of the most compassionate and non-judgemental members of the PPD. Always ready to laugh...only when the job was done. His family should be very proud of the footprints he left behind, they were large and well placed in this world. May he rest in Peace!

Linda and family,
We are all very sorry to hear of your loss. Even though we didn't visit often enough, please know that Bryan was thought of often. One of my fondest memories of Bryan was when he tried to come to our wedding during a blizzard and even using his "pull" as a police officer, he couldn't get through the roadblocks/closures!He was just a wonderful man and cousin.
Take peace in his and your memories and in the assistance of family to help you through.

I am so sorry for the loss of Bryan. He was always happy and good for a laugh or two, or three. I am honored that I was able to be a part of one of the joys in his life, that being Harley's. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. My heart tells me that Bryan is still smiling and riding. Joseph Camp.
