Charlene Szczsponik

SZCZSPONIK CHARLENE M. (HARTMAN) 70, of Giovanni Rose Ct., passed at Kent Hospital after being stricken at home on Saturday, December 28, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Stanley J. Szczsponik for over 50 years. Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (McCarron) Hartman. Charlene was employed in the accounting center for Sears in Warwick for over 20 years before retiring. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing and used to belong to the Ocean State Writers Guild. In the early 1970's, Charlene wrote an article on H.P. Lovecraft that was published in the R I Yearbook. In more recent years, she enjoyed polka dancing, travelling near and far for polka festivals, and she was a volunteer for the OLC Polish Picnic. She was the mother of Sandra J. Lawson and husband Patrick, of Providence, Carol A. Beach and husband Bud, and Kathleen J. Menard and husband Steven, all of Coventry. Charlene was the sister of Marsha LaFleur of Coventry. Her funeral will be Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 9:00 am from the IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry, RI 02816. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to OLC Church will be appreciated. iannottifh.com
