Donald Slater Obituary

Slater, Donald
Donald T. Slater 81, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at the Phillip Hulitar Center on September 6th, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born at Lying-In Hospital on March 20th, 1937. He worked at Federal Products as a manager until he retired. He was the son of the late Joseph and Loretta Slater (L' Abbe). He was the loving father of Donna Haab-Slater and Michele Fernandes-Slater. He was the devoted husband of Mary N. (DelPadre) Slater for 45 years. Donald (Don) proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a great lover of Western and Elvis movies. He had a new found love of singing. His favorite songs to sing were "Old Man River" and "Silent Night". He was considered the mayor of the center and helped those struggling more than he. His calling hours will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank Street, Hope Valley, RI, 02832 followed by a chapel service at 1:00 pm with military honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Phillip Hulitar Center (1085 N Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904) in Don's memory would be appreciated.
Dad, you were never alone and will be solely missed. Dad's famous last words: "Coffee milk fixes everything".
