Alan and I and our children from the Alhambra Circle send our warm and loving thoughts to you all. We will cherish our fondest memories from the time she picked up Ari in the morning and dropped him off at school to the many celebrations of Bar Mitzvah and birthdays. She was very special to us.

Suzi and Deb, You were so fortunate to have your wonderful mother for so many years. I hope you can find some comfort in fond memories. I remember sitting in her kitchen as she dicatated some of my favorite recipes. She was a fantastic cook. It was so kind of her to attend my parents' funerals even when she was not well herself. She left a great legacy of kind and caring children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She will be missed.

Deb and Susan = So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing = she was a lovely lady. She and my aunt, Ginny Gately, were good neighbors for many, many years and enjoyed sharing recipes. That's the area to live in - Alhambra Circle breeds

Like many others, I will always remember Edith with respect and love. “Respect .. because she was a presence who wouldn’t (and couldn’t) be ignored. “Love” .. because she was always engaging in a personal and giving way. Her openness and directness invited the same in return. Love inevitably followed.
Edith’s generations of children, grands and greats should be rightly proud when remembering and loving their “Nanna”. We will all miss her.

I, too, had the pleasure of having Mrs. Sugerman as my fourth grade teacher at Meshanticut Park School (a year before my sister Paula did). I also remember learning the multiplication tables as Mrs. Sugerman tossed a beanbag, although I remember the kids being lined up with their backs along the wardrobe wall rather than in a circle. "Nine times four," Mrs. Sugerman would say as she underhanded the beanbag. "Thirty-six!" the intended recipent was expected to shout before grabbing it. In those pre-calculator days, it was an effective teaching tool.
I remember that Mrs. Sugerman taught me how to write limericks.
I remember Mrs. Sugerman as kind, tall and stately. I also remember that, like me, she had a big shoe size. (I wear size 11.)
I would like her family to know that Mrs. Sugerman lives on in the lives she touched in a second-floor classroom on Curtis Street close to 50 years ago.

I had the pleasure of having your Mom as my fourth grade teacher at Meshanticut Park School. Thanks to her, I remember all of the times tables. She made learning them fun by having the students stand in a circle. She stood in the middle and called out a multiplication problem. The catcher of the bean bag had to say the answer while catching. Being part of the only Jewish family at the school, I was thrilled to have a Jewish teacher who also went to the same synagogue as I.
May your fond memories help you get through this emotional time.

Deb and Susan,
Your mother was an amazing woman, and besides that, she was an honorary member of the Silverman family for 76 years--it doesn't get any better than that.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
Love,
Fred
