Dr. Hall was my doctor for many years. Twenty years ago he performed my surgery-(3 day stay).Friday morn he came by, pulled up a chair, and visited for 10 minutes. He was heading to a conference on the Cape.(Brewster?)We spoke of favorite places there,he commented on my book choices, some general chit chat and then he left. Even then, my thoughts, "How unusual is that!" He was unique! I'll always remember his kindness, his concern and caring- and his courtly manner. Truly, he was the epitome of what a doctor should be. My sincerest sympathy to the family.

Dear Myrna, The funeral service was, indeed, a beautiful and loving celebration of Howie's life. What a difference he made. To hear how the grandchildren spoke of him in their own words was both touching and profoundly meaningful. I am so sorry that I couldn't go over to Agawam to speak to you directly after the
Service. I had an appointment and could not change it. Please accept my deepest condolences. When I think of Howie, I see his fabulous smile and feel that great bearhug, cocktail shaker on high. How dearly we will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you. All my love, Dory

Dear Myrna, We were so sorry to learn of Howard's passing the other day. Had we had more notice, we would have come down from Portland for the service. It seems the only times we got together in years past were holidays at Gardner and Nina Gould's home in Newton; but they were good memories. I loved Howard's sense of humor.

Dear Myrna, I am so sorry to hear that Dr Hall has passed away. He was a lovely man. We both dressed up for my yearly checkup: he in a classic bow tie - me in a complete Aeolian Suntan, big black Hollywood sunglasses, wrapped in a white sheet -lying on his examining table like a cat on a hot tin roof. I made him laugh. He kept me safe. Rest in peace Dr Hall.

I have the fondest memories of Dr. Hall. I worked for many years as a trial lawyer defending a number of Dr. Hall's colleagues. I would call him to consult on cases knowing that he would always be generous with his time and patient in helping me understand the complexities of his field. He was smart and funny and humble. And we shared a love of bow ties. I am sorry to hear that he is gone.
