J.D.-Aiden talks about you every day and there is not a minute that goes by that I don't think about you. You were the best nephew anyone could ask for and certainly the best big cousin Aiden could ask for. "I can't remember life before J.D." is the sentence constantly coming out of my mouth. People who knew you loved you. People who didn't know you loved you because they always heard my special stories about you. Jake, the day you were born, I knew you were special. I loved you from the moment I set eyes on you. I watched you grow into a loving and compassionate young man. Throughtout all that you endured, your courage and determination was envied by all who knew you. I will miss the closeness we had and that great sense of humor that could always bring a smile. Shannon,Carol,Kenny,Nichole I'll never forget the time I stayed at your house and I played a video game with Jacob. We were playing the game and when it was my turn I lost,then again I lost, come to find out Jacob didn't have my control plugged in. HE TRICKED ME. I'll never forget his sense of humor. I remember Jake all the way back to him being 2 years old and my little buddy. My heart is so heavy for this whole situation and I can't help but cry and be in shock at the same time. Jake was my right hand man every time I signed on to Xbox. I cant believe that he'll no longer be there to help me fight off the zombie invasion. He'll always be my favorite cousin, from nerf wars to video games; Jake Hansen was the man.

this is ej butler, jacob was a life long friend to me because he was a kid who kept fighting for everything he wanted and still never gave up. I knew him from school and when i heard about him, i felt really sad for what his family and close friends feel

Jacob was a true and faithful best friend. He was mellow and fun loving which made him a joy to be around. He was intelligent, making honors in school while fighting his battle. He amazed us with his sheer will and determination. His life proved to be very rich with love and full of as many experiences as he could manage. Although we feel it was too short, we thank God for the time we had with him. We feel honored to have had him in our lives.

I was Jacob's sixth grade teacher at Chariho Middle School and am so saddened by his passing. He was one of the brightest and most courageous students I ever taught. Never did he expect special privileges because of his illness and hated missing school when it was necessary. I remember he enjoyed Social Studies and always read beyond the assignments I gave him. One of my most memorable students. May he rest in peace.
