Jim Tingley was my closest classmate while we were at URI. We graduated together in January 1943. I spent many a night in the Tingley mansion in East Greenwich in friendship with Jim, his sister, Marian, and their parents. We met seldom after 1943 but for some 60 years we shared monthly or so telephone calls. The memory of Jimmmy will always be with me during my few remaining years.

I met James W. Tingley, Jr. forty-eight years ago and was privileged to have served with him in the Rhode Island Militia & have the fondest memories of participating with him at Muster Day at Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts in the mid 1950s through the 1960s. I learned a great deal of military history from Jim Tingley which will last me for a life time. His devotion to his family & country has been an inspiration. May God bless James W. Tingley, Jr. It was a privilege to have served with him & to have known him.
